How do we get Hail?

When particles of sleet form at a great height, they then fall through clouds carrying drops of rain. So, the sleet particles are enlarged by the rain gathering around each one and freezing.
Or, water drops in a cloud are carried up high into zones where the lower temperature freeze them. Hailstones – the balls of ice which fall – can be small as a pea, or as large as an orange !!
