Why does the Sun keep Shining ?

Even the tiniest object contains millions of atoms. Each atom contains much tinier particles still. Inside the Sun, atoms are being pulled to pieces and put together again in a different way. This gives out heat, and keeps the Sun Shining.

The sun is made up of 90 percent hydrogen atoms, about nine percent helium atoms and one percent other elements such as oxygen and nitrogen. In its centre hydrogen atoms are reassembled as helium atoms, giving out a burst of energy.
