Some crops are able to put goodness back in to the soil. Farmers can improve soil by growing different kinds of crops after each other in the same fields. This is known as crop rotation.
Variations on the medieval three – filed system have been used in Europe for over 2000 years. In the three – filed system, fields are divided in to strips which are cultivated by different farmers.
