Where Does Rubber comes From?
Natural rubber is made from latex, a milky fluid which is found under the bark of the rubber tree. This tree is a native of the Amazon rain forest and grows in hot , wet equatorial conditions.
The rubber tree was introduced to South-Asia via London’s Botanical gardens at Kew. Plantations is Malaysia and Indonesia have supplied much of the world’s rubber. The bark of the rubber three is cut and latex oozes in to the cup fixed by the rubber tapper. The Latex is then smoked and vulcanized to make rubber.
