Where is Tea Grown ?

The tea we drink is made from the crushed leaves of an evergreen bush which grows in hot, damp climates. It seems to thrive at quite high altitude, up to 2300 meters, in tropical areas.

Tea was brought to Europe from China . As the drink became fashionable , plantations of tea bushes were planted by the Dutch in Indonesia and by the British in India and Srilanka. Now tea plantations are also found in Japan, East Africa and on hillsides in Georgia in Asia.
