The greatest mountain range on land is the Himalaya – Karakoram Range to the north of India . It has the most of the world’s highest peaks.
In the Himalayas, on the border of Nepal and Tibet, is Mount Everest , the highest mountain on land; 8848 meters high. The height of Mount Everest was discovered in 1852. It was named after Sir George Everest, the Surveyor – General of India at the time. The andes of South America are a longer but lower mountain range .
