When was Aerial Photography First Used for Map Making ?

The First aerial photographs were taken from a ballon above Paris in 1958.

The photographer and balloonist was Gaspard Felix Tournachon, who was also known as Nadar. These first air photographs of Paris were used to help with mapmaking . Experiments continued with balloons and kites , but it was after World War 1 that aerial Photography became useful.
